Chapters 6 & 11 Responses

Chapter 6
I would prefer to teach in a classroom with more digital technologies.  Different technologies used during lessons make learning fun.  Many children don't find learning fun, but they could have fun while learning and using these technologies.  I have always found the Electronic Whiteboard to be super fun and I believe it would catch students' attention and get them more involved.

Chapter 11
Visual: A traditional technology would be the overhead projector.  This could be used to put up a problem in front of the whole class to see, use one student to write everything out, and the class can work out the problem together.  That way I know who needs more help and who understands the material.  An emerging technology would be the document camera.  This technology has a zoom feature on it and can be helpful to those few students who tend to sit in the back of the room but can't see the power point slides.  Audio: A traditional technology would be a tape recorder.  In my Spanish classroom I could record my students when they are practicing their vocabulary and work with them to correct any words not pronounced correctly.  An emerging technology would be the digital media players.  Ipods have the capability of downloading educational games, can be accessed from anywhere, and are fun to use.
